Everyday Care Tips
Nothing fancy — just the small things that keep our three happy and healthy. Always check with your vet for anything serious.
Fresh water, every day
- Cats drink more from a wide, shallow bowl than a deep one.
- Keep water away from the food bowl — many cats prefer it in a separate spot.
- A quiet running fountain can tempt fussy drinkers.
Litter box basics
- The rule of thumb: one box per cat, plus one spare.
- Scoop daily; a full clean once a week keeps everyone happy.
- Put boxes in calm, low-traffic corners — not next to the food.
Play & enrichment
- Two short 10-minute play sessions a day beat one long one.
- Wand toys let you mimic prey — pause, dart, hide.
- Rotate toys weekly so they stay interesting.
- A window perch is the best free entertainment there is.
A tired cat is a well-behaved cat. Most 3am zoomies trace back to a boring evening.
Grooming
- Short-haired cats enjoy a weekly brush; long-haired ones need it every day or two.
- Gentle strokes with the coat, never against it, keep it a treat and not a chore.
- Check ears and claws while you brush — it's a good moment to spot anything off.
